Jury

I passed my pre-recital jury! I'm so happy! It's all downhill from here :) all I have to do is keep working hard and there's no pressure!
I have the sweetest husband who gave me a priesthood blessing this morning even though he got up late and was most likely not going to make it to work on time. (it turned out ok for him though, the place he works at is really laid back :) ). He blessed me that I would be comforted, calm and have increased ability. And I really did. Everything went so well and it wasn't due to me. The Lord truly increased my ability and He helped me to be calm while I was performing. I don't think I have ever been that calm or confident in a performance. Everything felt so good and I walked out of there knowing I passed. It was such a good experience. It always amazes me that I didn't really mention my specific concerns to him, he was able to use the Spirit and know what I needed to hear. I love that :)
Also I got a letter in my email today from the Graduation Evaluators at BSU saying that I am a valid candidate for graduation and that I have fulfilled all the requirements to graduate! I applied for graduation like six weeks ago and didn't hear anything until today. I was pretty sure I met all the requirements but it's a relief when you finally get the letter :)
Tyler and I are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate all the great things that are happening!

I'm really bad at this whole blogging thing...

The last month has been really crazy for Tyler and I. Tyler has been studying a lot for his FE Exam in April. He gets up and goes to work, comes home and works out and eats dinner, then hits the books for a few hours before bed and then gets up and does it all over again the next day. Poor guy, he doesn't like having to be sitting for 8 hours at work and then another 2-3 at home to study. He and I will both be so much happier once this is over. I don't get to see him much since he has so much studying that he needs to do. Hopefully he will be able to pass this test and then we wont have to go through this again!

I have been busy as well. I had to play in the pit orchestra for the opera "Iolanthe" that the music department produced this year. It was a fun experience but it sure was time consuming. The week of the opera we had rehearsals every night that lasted anywhere from two hours to three and a half hours. And of course this was on top of regular orchestra, classes, homework, work, and practicing that I already had to do. As if I didn't have enough to do already! I was really on top of school and work until the opera. I went from getting my homework, practicing, and work done to hardly getting any homework done, only practicing for about an hour a day, and slacking on my work duties a bit. Now that the opera is over and I have had a chance to rest and recharge I am much more on top of things. I'm getting the practicing in that I need to, my homework is done, and way before it has to be, and my work is getting done and I almost have extra time to do things that I want to do! It's a great feeling :) I'm a fan. I have been basically practicing as much as I can. My pre-recital jury is tomorrow! Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! Scary! A month before a music major is allowed to perform a senior/junior recital they have to play for a panel of faculty members who tell the person if they have prepared well enough to be permitted to play their recital. My recital is a little more than a month away (14th of April at 7:30pm) and my jury is tomorrow (the 12th of March). It's a little nerve racking but I have been feeling pretty good about the work that I have been doing on the pieces that I am playing and I think that as long as I keep practicing hard that I will be able to pass my jury tomorrow. Say a little prayer for me, I could use it :)

After I am done with my jury I will be sending out invitations for my recital. Sorry for the long time between this post and my last one. I will try to be better about keeping you all updated on us. Frankly, there just isn't a whole ton going on right now in our lives but that's no excuse to not post! I will find little things to post about here and there :)

Valentines Day!

I made Tyler a nice dinner and dessert for V Day this year :)
Pork pot roast in the slow cooker





I also made mashed potatoes


And we drank "fine", fake wine ;)


I made a yummy dessert, started with a box of brownies


Baked them


Mixed together some chocolate, whipping cream, raspberry jelly, and cream cheese frosting


And put it on top of the brownies and refrigerated it for a while so it could set


And drizzled some melted chocolate chips mixed with some more whipping cream (and also ate some, of course)


So we had a yummy dessert to eat!
Tyler liked everything a lot, he said the pot roast is better than having a turkey at thanksgiving and enthusiastically said that the dessert is a "do over". That is Tyler language for "really liked it, please please please make it again!" :)
Today has just been a great day with my Valentine. A lot of other people were really great to me too.
I got a surprise bouquet of flowers in a pretty vase from Mom and Mike.

And in orchestra today, allthe violists gave each other "buckets" of valentines

Free Stuff

Have I ever mentioned how much I like getting free stuff? I really like getting free stuff. I get so excited and happy and feel so cool that I was able to get something for free, cause nothing in life is free, right? ;) Well, I have recently discovered the vistaprint.com website. You can hover over the Home and Family or the Business tabs on the left hand side of the page and see that in each of those sections they have a whole category of stuff that is free. I go crazy over this website, and yes, the stuff really is free, you just have to pay to get it to you (shipping, like $5-7, depending on how much stuff you scored ;) lol). It is seriously the best thing since sliced bread. They have all sorts of free deals, I just ordered a wall photo calendar, a desk photo calendar, personalized recital invitations, magnetic calendars and I could go on and on about all the free stuff I've ordered. I did pay for some business cards just in case you all are wondering ;) Basically, vistaprint is super cool and has lots of free deals and great prices on their items that aren't free. AND, after my first purchase they gave me a $10 off coupon to use towards any $10 purchase. Pretty awesome if I do say so myself :)

I've been noticing that lately I really can't rely on people, my friends mainly. And that's ok, maybe I have too high of expectations for people. I really just want people to do what they say they will. I don't feel like that's asking too much but apparently I'm wrong. I have the attitude that if you can't or don't really want to do it then you shouldn't say that you are going to, just say no and it's not a big deal. I don't want to sound negative, because I'm not upset or mad about anything in particular, its more just a realization than anything. I'm just going to go on with life and not be too worried if someone doesn't do what they say they will. I guess if I expect nothing then I will be pleasantly surprised when a person does do what they said they would. However, I will continue trying to be the type of person that does what I say I will, despite the fact that I can't expect that of others.
