The Craziness of BSU Chamber Music Camp

The past few days have been really crazy. I've been working at the BSU Chamber Music Camp. Volunteering, really. I probably won't get paid, unless they miraculously have extra money. Fat chance of that. But that's ok, it's so much fun that it doesn't matter :). And I've already been offered a job to work there next summer by the director of the camp himself. Can't complain too much :) Monday was the craziest of the three days. I spent thirteen hours at the Morrison Center doing whatever Mr. Purdy or Mr. Brown asked. I did things like grade theory tests, make copies, coach small ensembles, play games with the kids, move around furniture, take pictures, play in the orchestra and take the kids to dinner. I just did whatever I was told. One time Monday night Mr . Brown asked me to get all the kids to go to this room and get their instruments and bring them to this other room. Well, I didn't want to tell each of them individually to do that, so I yelled really loud and put on my "authoritative" voice and got them to do just that. I'm 5' 2" but I pack a punch! Those kids were dead silent. And my coworkers were cheering. Yeah, that was pretty fun.
I got the nicest compliment from the orchestra director's wife ( who is also my fabulous accompanist) today. She said that Mr. Purdy keeps talking about what a big help I am and that he even talked to the director of the camp about how he wanted me to be on staff next year. Hence, the job offer from Mr. Brown. Another funny thing, one day Mr. Brown complimented me on the necklace that I was wearing (one of the ones that I made and posted pictures of) and every day since then he has not only noticed my necklace but also pointed it out to someone else and told them that I made it. He just might be the coolest band director ever. And the fact that he has the kids play games with stuffed animals makes him even cooler.


Thank you Mr. Brown.

Two last things. One: we are moving in a week. Yes, you read correctly. One week. Craziness! So ready to be out of this apartment. Two: Tyler didn't didn't get that job he interviewed for a couple weeks ago but he does have another interview. Not for an engineering job though. Sad face. At least it's something. And that's much better than nothing.

First camping trip of the year!!!!!

Just got back! It was so much fun. We went and camped at the South Fork of the Boise River. Mom and Mike got us a really really big tent for Tyler's graduation. It is huge. Did I mention that our tent is huge? Huge. We had such a great time. Only wish that it could have lasted a couple days longer.

We set up camp just in time. It rained for about an hour right after everything was set up.
Tyler made an awesome dinner. We had potatoes, onions, carrots and pineapple in tinfoil.


Tyler put some boneless ribs in the Dutch oven with more pineapple and onions.


Before we ate any of the stuff above, we had veggies that were cooked in the Dutch oven. They were soooooo good.

After dinner we went on a walk and saw some cool stuff.

We roasted coconut marshmallows and made s'mores later then told stories around the campfire then went to bed.
In the morning, Tyler woke up before me and breakfast was ready by the time I got up. And, man was it good!


Then we went on another walk and we saw some big animal prints.
This one we think might have been a bear. And there were two of them, there were little prints and big prints just like this one.



Huge elk(??) prints too. not sure if it was an elk though, might have been a moose.

After our walk we went back to camp and packed up. On the way out we saw the nest of a bald eagle and took a pic of that. It's on Ty's camera though. I'll have to post that later.
We had a great time but are sure glad to be back in the land of indoor plumbing, running water and electricity.

This week

We house sat for my grandparents and they have six bunnies, two adults and four babies, and it was our job to take care of them. And boy are they cute!

Since we got the apartment manager job and the apartment we are in now is furnished we don't have a lit of furniture that we will need in our new place. So, Tyler and I have been working hard and making a kitchen table!

And I learned how to operate the drill press so I could help Ty.

Tyler cut his finger yesterday. It wasn't too bad but it clotted a lot and by the time he went to wash it there was a mound of coagulated blood that was a least an eighth of an inch long and almost just as high! Gross!






Today we are leaving to go on a overnight camping trip. We are super excited :) don't worry, I'll take lots of pictures.

We have too much time on our hands...

Today

Tyler has an interview today! Doesn't he look soooooo good?! Hope he does well!



And! We have corn coming up in our garden! There are a couple other really little ones but this is the biggest one!

We Got It!

Remember that job interview we had yesterday?! Well, it was for an apartment manager position where we get our rent and most our utilities paid for in return for doing the managerial stuff for the apartments. Well guess what? We got it! We are the new managers at the Denton Street Townhouses! And we are super excited :)

We just gave our 30 days notice. We're moving!

Events of Today

So, today has been a rather exciting day. First of all, *we* had an interview today. We interviewed to be the managers of an apartment complex in Boise. A friend from church told us about it and we decided we would apply. Our interview was this morning and they seemed to really like us. In payment for managing the complex we would get free rent and most utilities paid. We would only have to pay the electric. And something else that I really liked is that we wouldn't have to change wards. We love our ward and really don't want to change to a different one. We'll see what happens with that. The lady who interviewed us ended up being a friend of my step-mom, Linnie. They knew each other before Dad and Linnie were married. Crazy!
Second, we finally heard about the job Tyler applied for with the Navy. He didn't get the position. Kind of a bittersweet thing. We really wanted it but it would have been hard to do while I am still in school. We are going to try for it again in a few months. Tyler will probably apply for a similar position with the Air Force as well. He really would be perfect for this type of position, they just don't know it. He works SO hard. Just when I think I've seen him work his hardest he works harder and surprises me. And he has a lot of leadership skills and construction management experience that would enable him to lead a battalion of men easily. But, they don't live with him so all they see is what's on paper. He's wonderful though. I love him a lot.
Something will work out for us. Even if we feel daunted by all the things that haven't happened, there is s plan. God has something up His sleeve for us that will be better. There is a plan, no matter how much it seems like everything is going wrong.
