Trick or Treating on Spine Street
At the military base in Bahrain they have what's called the spine, a long walkway with buildings on either side of it that makes up the majority of that half of the base. At Halloween each different command sets up a tent and decorates it for Halloween so that the military families stationed here in Bahrain can come and take their kids trick or treating. Halloween is largely an American holiday and is not very widely observed here in Bahrain. Some of the compounds participate in trick or treating but not everyone in the compound actually participates and not everyone (us included) lives in a compound so it's really great that the base does some fun events to help us all enjoy our traditions a little more where it's hard to do so in this country. We had a great time going to Trick or Treat on Spine Street this year. The girls loved seeing all the princesses and, of course, the actual trick or treating.
