On Monday we drove up to the Belfast area of Northern Ireland and
spent some time with a wonderful woman named Alison Tracy who Tyler knew
on his mission. We had an awesome day visiting with her in her home,
getting lunch, driving up to Holywood and going for a walk along the
beach and to an ocean front park, and then having dinner with her and
her husband and playing at their house some more. This was a special day
for me in particular as my ancestors on the McClellan side lived in
Holywood (pronounced Hollywood by the locals (; ). The weather that day
was uncharacteristically warm for that time of the year, about 65
degrees Fahrenheit. So our walk along the greenbelt that followed the
beach was wonderful, no need for jackets and definitely not too hot at
all. 'Twas a perfect day!
Going to the park was
definitely a highlight for our kiddos, they've felt cooped up in Bahrain
not being able to go to parks because of the extreme heat and not being
able to roam very freely because of all the traffic in the part of the
country that we live in. They were so happy to be able to run and roam
and just play! And boy, were they tired after that fun filled day!
